Hello and welcome to the University of Nottingham Debating Union website.

The Union is committed to raising the profile and standard of debating within Nottingham University and throughout the East Midlands.

We host public debates open to all every Monday evening from 7:30-9:00pm in C11 of the Portland Building. For details of upcomming debates please take a look at the events calendar.

If you have a motion you would like to see debated, or are keen to be a speaker at any of our debates please contact David Hayes, our director of debates.

We offer free debate training for all our members. Catering for all abilities, our two weekly training sessions will develop and improve debating skills that will give you the edge in job interviews, dissertations and presentations. 

The Union subsidises members to travel to compeititons hosted by universities throughout the UK. The chance to meet engaging and interesting people across the country and enjoy the socials held after competitions is one you really shouldn't miss!
